Threads – Release Notes (v0.6)

Overview

Version 0.6 introduces full support for importing and exporting projects using the legacy Gen-AI markdown folder structure, enabling cross-compatibility between existing conversational archives and the new JSON-based editor.

This release also adds infrastructure for LLM-driven generation workflows. All existing editing and layout behaviors remain unchanged.

New Features in v0.6

Import / Export of Legacy Gen-AI Format

The editor can now convert between its internal JSON ProjectTree and the legacy markdown layout:

Import…

• Select a folder containing an existing Gen-AI project hierarchy.
• Automatically reconstructs the full ProjectTree, including prompts, responses, notes, and branch structure.

Export…

• Select an empty folder to write the current project into the legacy markdown layout.
• Produces a deterministic structure compatible with the importer.
• Writes README, Q/A files, and note files (<level>_README.md).
• Creates branch directories using <level>_<index> naming.

File Menu Enhancements

The File menu now includes:

• Import… (legacy Gen-AI folder → ProjectTree)
• Export… (ProjectTree → legacy Gen-AI folder)
• Exit (quit the application)

Limitations

• No document deletion or structural reorganization
• Markdown preview remains basic
• LLM integration is not yet active
