In the age of AI-generated "fast visuals", human-created art still has an unparalleled charm. Not because of its seeming simplicity, but because of the intellectual touch that's absent from perfectly (or randomly) computed graphics.

A quick tool to try assembling your own 2D character portrait for visual novels using assets from the Custom Female Character pack (and related formats) - all credit goes to LinXueLian, who shares the beautifully crafted assets for free.

Introduction

Character Customizer (CC) is a browser-based tool for building characters from LinXueLian’s compatible asset packs. Import supported packs directly from their official itch.io pages, or load ZIP files from your device.

Choose clothing, hairstyles, expressions, and accessories with automatic layer ordering and placement. Fine-tune each layer’s position, scale, rotation, and opacity, then export your character as a transparent PNG.

CC supports desktop and mobile browsers. Editing and image export happen entirely on your device; automatic asset downloads use the public CC download service. No account is required. You can also visit the dedicated web app here.

Usage Instructions

Open Assets to import supported packs from their official itch.io pages or load ZIP files from your device. In Editor, choose a character base, select layer variants, and enable optional accessories. Layers are placed automatically; drag the character parts or adjust their position, scale, rotation, and opacity as needed.

Open Export to download your character as a transparent PNG, optionally cropped to visible artwork. Export before closing or refreshing—the workspace is not saved. Check About for asset licences and attribution requirements.
